Media Literacy for Older Adults
Our team is dedicated to creating media literacy education for the older adult population. Adults over the age of 60 years are more likely to be targeted for scams and consume misinformation than other populations. We are interested in partnering with local libraries, senior centers, and adult day centers to create a learning intervention that addresses these issues so that older adults can take control against scammers and avoid harmful misinformation.

We are a team of graduate students from New York University with a variety of backgrounds. We come together with a joint passion for creating an educational initiative to aid older adults in avoiding harmful scams, misinformation, and conspiracies.
01.
In order to provide the best educational intervention possible, we conducted research using a survey, interviews, conversations with subject matter experts, and a literature review.
02.
Reflecting on our research, we began our design process. We worked as a group through our early ideas to establish a 4-week final course design.
03.
For our final stage, we developed an evaluation plan and report for our 4-week final course design.
